Vintage Pewter by Rice No. 346 Double-Handled Sugar Bowl

This vintage double-handled sugar bowl by Pewter by Rice has a beautifully simple form, with a rounded body, rolled rim and two sweeping handles. The pewter has mellowed to a soft charcoal-gray patina. Pewter by Rice was produced by Bernard Rice's Sons in New York, a firm formed at the turn of the 20th century and known for both silver-plated hollowware and an extensive line of pewter; pieces bearing the mark are generally associated with the early-to-mid 20th century.
