Vintage Academy Silver on Copper 3-Piece Coffee & Tea Service

There is something inherently romantic about a proper coffee or tea service — cream poured from a little pitcher, sugar passed across the table, a pot left warm between cups. This three-piece Academy set was made for exactly that kind of ritual.

The set includes a tall lidded pot, open sugar bowl and creamer, each finished in silver plate over copper with delicate floral and scroll detailing around the rims. Academy Silver operated in New York during the mid-20th century, producing silver-plated hollowware for the home; pieces marked Academy Silver on Copper were made with a copper base beneath the plated finish, giving worn areas the soft rosy tone visible on this set today.
